Juices for a Happy Belly and a Healthy Heart

Not to be a stereotypical health obsessed vegan, but I adore juicing. Every time I sip on one of my nutrient dense concoctions I instantly feel so much energy and happiness. Is this just a placebo? It could be, but I truly think juices (in moderation, of course) have an amazing effect on our physical and mental health.

To create my juices, I process them through the Breville Elite 32-oz Stainless Steel Juice Extractor. It’s a great juicer that gets the job done!

Here are three super easy and super delicious recipes that will keep your belly happy and your heart healthy!

1. Green Machine

Ingredients:

  • One whole cucumber
  • Several leaves of kale (this is usually the bulk of my juice)
  • One red apple
  • A tiny piece of ginger
  • A few sprigs of parsley

This juice is aaaaaaall about the greens. And if you detest the taste of leafy greens, you’re in for a treat! These juices are extremely customizable; therefore, you can add less kale if you’re a green juice newbie. I love using kale because it’s one of the most nutrient dense foods on Earth. It’s jam-packed with vitamins and antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body! Here are just a few of the amazing nutrients found in this miracle leaf: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B6, calcium and potassium. Basically, kale is amazing and everyone should try to incorporate it into their diet. This juice is the perfect way to do that.

2. Dragon Blitz

Ingredients:

  • One whole red flesh dragonfruit
  • Half a large cucumber
  • A tiny piece of ginger
  • One green apple

The Dragon Blitz is one of the coolest drinks I’ve ever created. It’s comprised mainly of dragonfruit, which is what gives the drink its rich color. For this drink, it’s important to use dragonfruit with red flesh because those are much juicier than the white-fleshed dragonfruits. This juice contains a mixture of amazing nutrients that will nourish your mind and body. Dragonfruit is rich in the B vitamins which aid the body in producing energy and red blood cells. Ginger combats inflammation, aids digestion, fights infection, and lowers cholesterol levels. Not only does this juice taste amazing, but it also provides a nice boost of nutrients.

3. Simply Tangerine

Ingredients:

  • However many tangerines you like!

This last juice is the most simple and is probably the juice that people will enjoy the most. Tangerines are sightly less tart than oranges so they make a sweeter drink. This juice is the perfect morning pick me up. Tangerines are rich in Vitamin C which help boost our immune systems and keep our skin looking young! There’s nothing like the flavor of freshly squeezed citrus!
